I open the window in the back of the house most mornings. There isn’t really any world shaking reason for this. It just lets fresh air in and our old cat likes to sit on the windowsill and chat to birds that sit sunrise waiting in the pecan tree…

Last night, the neighbors quietly showing the bunny to their two children-they plant the berries specifically so their children get to see the bunnies in the garden.

Strange and wonderfully weird thing I learned today: if a baby opossum falls off its mother’s back, it makes a sneezing sound to get her attention.

After Friday’s rain, this morning’s nature walk sounded more lively than usual. Some may be the season? It was mainly more bird chatter than usual. Spotted three nests: one mockingbird in the corner holly(it’s grown huge this last year and the nesting spot is close to 12-14 feet off the ground) plus two finch nests(one in each Boston fern at the outdoor dining porch).

There was yet another school shooting yesterday in Texas-an elementary school this time. Fatalities close to twenty lives so far, many of them children. So needless that this happens ever, here or in any country.

The catkins pollen encircles the base of the pecan tree at the edge of the cut flower garden this week. Hoping this is a sign of an abundant pecan crop this autumn.
