Charlotte Mason refers to the atmosphere of the home, specifically I’m seeing this as a predominant theme throughout the Parents and Children volume.

“Education is an atmosphere—that is, the child breathes the atmosphere emanating from his parents; that of the ideas which rule their own lives” (Parents and Children, p. 247).

The more I read through this specific volume, I’m impressed with her keen insight, how she would have had to spend much of her time in deep observation of her students, their families, the climate of the family dynamic.

The catkins pollen encircles the base of the pecan tree at the edge of the cut flower garden this week. Hoping this is a sign of an abundant pecan crop this autumn.

In gratitude:

  1. A walk as the red light from the sun emerged across the horizon-a furry companion(Ted E. Bear) walked without tugging the leash.

  2. The Young Naturalist workbook(Wild and Free Co.) arrived early and is, of course, beautiful.

  3. Somehow managed to finish another read aloud with the mancubs-American Nations.

  4. Group text with mancub 1 at summer college. Comnected hearts, even if from a three state distance, is still connection.
