I found a book at a local library sale recently. The cover worn and spine frayed. Flipping through, I briefly caught vintage book smell of aged grass with sprinkled vanillin~it gets me every time.

The due date though? 1974~the last time this book was checked out, I was one month old. It’d been sitting shelved for decades. While I learned to stand and walk, it sat. While I learned to drive, it grew dust. And when I walked the mancubs into the library that afternoon, it grew wings and gained a home, no longer forgotten.

I’m tempted to place today’s date in there. A small way to thank this book for its patient wait. The title: Tree of Freedom. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀
