In our day to day lives, there are moments that are fleeting and there are some moments that, even though seemingly small, make a huge impact. Words are such a thing. They have a weight and depth so deep they can barely be held...and yet they hold us, nurture us, breathe emotion to us.
I strongly believe in reading up to a child, not down; meaning, their ability to comprehend story grows when reading books to them that they may not be able to read independently yet.
Short read aloud times dispersed throughout the day have anchored our mornings, afternoons, and evenings for a decade now. It has offered the opportunity to read and explore literature that I didn’t even know existed in my own youth. There are books that stick with us, remind us, speak to us, forever change us. They are the ones that invite us onto the page.
It wasn’t a mission I set out to meet, this enmeshment of love for story. It was seeing the spark of imagination, surprise, and utter joy surface as we followed the plots and twists and turns of 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘰𝘩, 𝘕𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢, 𝘗𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩, and even a spider named Charlotte.
Miss Charlotte, despite her short life, would thread and web change into the lives of an entire community.
If you haven’t read 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘦’𝘴 𝘞𝘦𝘣 yet, it is a delight no matter your age. It shares the tale of a spider that emerged to help others see the glorious brilliance of a pig-a pig that was a left behind, unwanted runt. Charlotte could see his sheer beauty when everyone else only saw a pig. This pig was deemed 𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵 because someone took the time to see his potential〰️not just what he was born with〰️not just the circumstances he’d been born into〰️not just his now, but 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 & 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦.
✨𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩.✨
There are wondrous lessons to be learned here. Despite the harsh edges of this world, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.
