This leaf

on the ground

this morning-

-one of the first falling from a silver maple outside the living room window.

And-

I know it’s coming soon,

the silver maple will feel the wind

and know it’s time.

She’ll show trueness,

full unashamed golden beauty.

𝗦𝗵𝗲’𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗼.

The front yard will fill with blazing yellow leaves. But, for today, she is making slow changes. Just her stems. They’ve slowly shifted to light crimson, a small sign of what’s to come. She’s preparing to lay a feast of golden leaves, but for now she starts with this leaf. One small step at a time. 𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻.

Like most life changes, they happen slowly. One unnoticed moment followed by another. 𝖶𝖾 𝗋𝖾𝖿𝗅𝖾𝖼𝗍 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝗂𝗍’𝗌 𝗁𝖺𝗋𝖽 𝗍𝗈 𝖿𝗂𝗇𝖽 𝖾𝗑𝖺𝖼𝗍 𝗆𝗈𝗆𝖾𝗇𝗍𝗌, 𝗐𝖾 𝗃𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝗌𝖾𝖾 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗋𝖾𝗌𝗎𝗅𝗍𝗌.
