In every season, your margins and edges will feel a push.

Is mustard seed faith enough? Really enough? I think it is. I read an article this past summer that said the Dijon mustard industry was concerned about the lack of usable mustard, that the fields they gleaned their mustard plants to create their product from were experiencing extremely low growth. I looked further into the comment section and someone from the state of California commented- well, come here-we have so much we can’t get rid of it.

It had me thinking about what I did (and didn’t) know about mustard. Mustard seed is extremely small, nothing like the random jar of seasoning I keep on my spice rack. A little bit goes a long way. You just need to get it started and planted well and it will start growing much on its own with just a little care. If allowed it will grow; it will grow spread. This is what the Bible tells us, to have a mustard seed faith.

“And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

‭Luke‬ ‭17:6‬ ‭

I don’t think I really appreciated that for a very long time. Probably because I didn’t understand that a little seed of faith, if planted well and nurtured, can grow and be shared until it’s so big it’s noticeable. But, if I neglect or don’t take care of it and nourish it, other people could be effected as well. When I feel stretched to the margins, maybe what I’m feeling is a faith trying to grow.
